Time On the Farm

As mentioned in yesterday's post, all of the members of Great Falls Studios were invited and many showed up this morning to Laura Nichols (potter and president of GFS) farm to photograph, paint, sculpt, etc. to our heart's content.

I started three ... and this one, "Quick Hen" was to "warm me up"  this morning. Laura has plenty of chickens (and guinea hens, goats, and a sheep) ... but I guess this one was in the corner of my eye a bit longer than the rest.

Tonight, Randy and I (along with 129 other people) went to the reception of Jonathan Fisher's exhibit "Flashpoints: A Celebration of Painted Wood" at the Market Street Bar & Grill (in the Hyatt Regency Reston VA), sponsored by the Greater Reston Arts Center. The exhibit continues through July 16, 2012. For Jon, it was a feat to adapt his wooden structural reliefs -- originally conceived as sculptures -- to hang in a space accustomed to two-dimensional art. Each piece is suspended without the viewer aware of the hanging device.  Congratulations to GRACE and Jon on a terrific exhibit and reception!
