"Specials" Interior Restaurant Painting

"Specials," oil, 24"h x 18"w, ©2016 Jill Banks
Every time I travel, there seems to be that one  painting-to-be held in brain waiting for the right time to put on canvas once home.

"Specials" was it for the trip to Monterey, California although I imagine this could be anywhere with great light.

I love interiors ... especially when there's a shock of sunshine making itself known outside.

This will be traveling to the Loveladies Fine Art Festival on Long Beach Island in New Jersey this weekend.

In addition to knowing this space and scene had to be painted, it also bears some similarities to two favorite paintings from this year: "Scene at the Bar" and "Morning Joe" that went to new homes not too long ago. So, it's temporarily filling the pang of sending away a favorite. (I still hope you'll own it.) Plus, the man waiting for his lunch reminds me of Tim Newton, the judge for Plein Air Easton. Nudges from all directions to choose this to paint.

See more like "Specials" on my web site in the Places Gallery
