I think it's a good sign that it's been tough to choose which painting from my week at Wayne Plein Air 2015 to spotlight on each day's post. Ten were painted over the course of five days and nine of those are on view (and available for purchase) at the Wayne Art Center in Wayne, PA through June 27.

"Snowballs at Strafford" was an accomplishment. I took a very unusual view -- a challenge to draw and paint and a little tough on my neck (and brain).

I chose the composition because the world surprises us when we look up, down, behind us, around corners -- in a good way. I loved the juxtaposition of the aged, worn look of the station against the fresh color of the snowball flowers in front of it.

This is one of those paintings that looked great from start to finish. A pleasure to paint and I didn't really want to stop ... but it was finished and time to move on to the next subject.
